Tim and I, along with our three children (Drew , Evan & Keira) manage a family farm in Myall, located on the Murray River. We are fourth generation farmers, and I have been involved in two family successions in my time. In 2022, we made a major leap forward by installing eight Lely robots, allowing our 500 Friesian cows to milk themselves on their own schedule. This shift from our old 44-stand rotary has transformed how we manage the dairy, making the cows’ wellbeing a priority and increasing efficiency. Our 355-hectare farm, which is fully automated irrigated pipeline from the Murray River to Goulburn Murray channel system for year-round water access. Our calving program is spread across three periods each year—in February, August, and November. We raise all our replacement heifers, ensuring they’re strong and productive, joining them at 400kg with a Wagyu and AI program for our lactating cows to breed with strong genetics to fit into our robot milking system. We employ two full-time staff who help us manage daily operations, and as a family, we work together to keep the farm thriving. Beyond the farm, our family is deeply connected to the local community. Our sons play football and our daughter plays netball for the Murrabit Football Netball Club. You’ll see Tim as the water boy and myself umpiring the netball. During the summer, we all play tennis for the Murrabit Lawn Tennis Club. Balancing farming and family, I also work once a week as an Exercise Physiologist in Cohuna, where I help clients recover from injuries and embrace exercise to improve their health and quality of life.

Myself and partner Erin milk approximately 300 cow Jersey stud cows in Stanhope in northern Victoria. We have just recently taken over from my parents, Gordon and Lyn, as part of our family succession plan, making us the fourth generation to run the farm since 1919. We farm 400 acres across 2 properties, hopefully soon to be 700 acres across 3, as a new purchase should take place be December 2024. We milk in a recently updated 16 unit swing over herringbone, with ACR’s, Sabre yield monitors, individual feed system, as well as some cell monitoring. We also use Datamar cow health collars and have a draft gate for heat detection. As a younger farmer, I have fully embraced technology in the business. Our irrigation is also mostly automated, which really helps to drive efficiency, as well as bringing huge time/labour savings, allowing me to spend more time with my family, which wasn’t necessarily afforded to previous generations. My ‘spare’ time is spent off farm playing for the local football and cricket club. I’m a life member of both, while the highlight of my week, every week, is taking my young daughter Ophelia to swimming lessons every Thursday morning.

I grew up within a family of wool growers but have found dairy is my industry of choice. Taking some time off the family farm after schooling to pursue a career in photography, graphic design and arts, but the passion for farming led me home. Now with children of our own along with my partner and his family we are operating a dairy farm just out of Lockington, Victoria. Our dairy consists of 150 cows in a freshly renovated 9 double up herringbone. We have the goal to milk 150 cows at all times, whilst having 4 calving patterns with cross bred cows. Our farm currently consists of 180 acres and is flood irrigated with temporary water. I have a special interest in cow health, the next generation of dairy farming and the positives within the industry. I was fortunate enough to be a participant in the Proud To Be A Dairy Farmer and Get To Know Fonterra programs and found these programs have ignited my true passion for representation in dairy farming. I have been fortunate enough to work in many different dairy set ups over the years from corporate to single operations and find these experiences have been the core to my passion. When not on farm I'm contributing to the Lockington Consolidated School Parents and Friends Committee, Lockington Bamawm United junior football or enjoying Murray Dairy and other dairy events. My hobbies outside of the farm are tennis or more recently Pickleball, landscape photography, enjoying our border collies and spending time with the kids and family.

My partner Rory, and I run a 550 cow dairy on a leased dairy farm just out of Smithton, in the far north west of Tasmania. I grew up on a dairy farm in northern Victoria and loved being on the farm, but I left to pursue my dream of being a vet. Fast forward 7 years of being a dairy vet, I meet Rory and we moved to Smithton to start our own dairy business and take that next step in our dairy careers. I now balance my time between the farm, being a vet and mum to our little girl Zoe. We lease a 250 hectare property and run our 550 spring calving cows through a 30 bale swing over dairy. The last few years have been all about rapid expansion so we are looking forward to consolidating the herd a bit now and focusing on improving the quality of the herd we have. It’s probably not a surprise that I’m particularly interested in animal health and finding the best ways to maximise it. I’m passionate about the dairy industry and I am fortunate to be surrounded by other passionate dairy farmers in this area. I want to see other young people follow into this career and see the value and joy that being a dairy farmer can be. Outside of dairying, I enjoy nothing better than a lovely glass of wine with some good Tassie cheese. I’m slowly making my way around all of the major rivers down here in my kayak and love the beautiful views hiking in this area provides.

I was born and raised on a dairy farm in Meander, Tasmania. I then worked with my parents in Smithton, Tasmania until I was 25. I then moved to northern Victoria and ran a dairy farm just outside of Cohuna. I returned to Tasmania in 2024 with my young family. I’m now the Operations Manager for TRT Dairies in Woolnorth, Tasmania. TRT Dairies were established in 2021 which comprises of four dairies here in Woolnorth. Three of the Dairies are currently being operated by TRT and are joined together via internal laneways. We milk 2,200 cross breed cows; two 700 spring herds and an 800 autumn herd. Our other dairy is currently leased out to another corporate while TRT are establishing themselves in the dairy industry. I not only have a passion and drive for the dairy industry but also in training and mentoring the next generation of dairy farmers. Without engaging our youth and encouraging their innovation and passion, the dairy industry will not exist.
