I’m a third generation on our 230ha family farm in Scotts Creek. I started on the farm as an apprentice late in 2000 and after six years I needed a change of scene and moved to another farm near Warrnambool. In 2009 I purchased a herd and returned to the family farm as a sharefarmer.
In 2016 I purchased a neighbouring 125ha farm and currently milk 440 mostly Friesian cows across the 2 adjacent platforms, milking in a 22-unit swing over, and a 20-unit double up. Both dairies can be run as a single person operation. The herd calves 3 times a year for a flat milk supply to Fonterra fresh on the home farm. It’s organised chaos!
I'm supported by my partner, the dog squad, and a small team of employees that keep the farms running.
Local community is important to me – I’m actively involved in the Scotts Creek CFA, Port Campbell Recreation Reserve Committee, Timboon Demons FNC Committee, Port Campbell Dairy Discussion Group, and the Westvic YDN.
Whenever I can squeeze in some downtime, you’ll find me on a motorbike, camping, catching up with friends (on a good day all of the above), or creating something rustic in the workshop.
