Our family farm is situated at Noorat in western Victoria and we milk 350 medium framed Holsteins in an Autumn calving system. The business involves my parents with my wife and I and we have just worked our way through succession plans to continue the family business into the next generation. My wife Rebecca and I have three daughters which keeps us busy.
Our milking platform is 194ha with 144ha of out-country used for growing of young stock and fodder production.
I also work off farm and have done so for the last 20 years as a ruminant nutritionist which enables me to connect with many farms and farmers across the southwest. I had been involved in the previously named Fonterra Supplier Forum for 5 years the last 2 as chair up until 2019 and have re-entered the scene through FASC since July this 2021. I am passionate about our industry and believe that advocacy is critical for information to be shared across our sector from farm level to board table.
