Fiona Salter

My husband Tim and I are on Clear Springs dairy farm in Meander Tasmania. We moved to this farm in 2015.
The farm was a beef/sheep/cropping farm and was purchased by a group of investors under the BWB management banner. The farm was converted over the following 8 months and we began our first season in August 2016, with Tim working as a manager.
It is a 360ha milking platform which is now 290ha under pivot irrigation, milking 1200 spring calving cross bred cows through a 60-bale rotary. We began share-farming in July 2018 and I decided that my heart was in the farm so I left my full time accounting position to work with Tim on the farm. My passion lies around the young stock and calves and keeping things safe and orderly on the farm.
I do all the bookkeeping and our own business accounts. I try to work in a support role to Tim to try and lighten his load.
Our blended family of 6 children have grown up and left home now and we have 2 grandchildren to keep us busy off farm. We love to holiday so when things are busy, we take our caravan to the river on the farm and holiday at home.
